Northland Therapeutic Riding Center (NTRC) is seeking a full-time Program Director to lead and manage our growing therapeutic riding program. This role is responsible for the design, oversight, and day-to-day operation of all program content in alignment with PATH Intl. standards. The Program Director will supervise and support instructors, evaluate and place riders appropriately, maintain consistent communication with families, and collaborate on equine selection and conditioning needs with the Equine Manager.

Required Qualifications

 PATH Intl. Certified Instructor in good standing

 Strong organizational and time-management skills

 Clear, effective communication and interpersonal abilities

 Proven leadership and team-management skills

 Comprehensive knowledge of therapeutic riding techniques

 Experience in horse training and conditioning

 Solid, demonstrable horsemanship skills

 Experience with horse management, health, and safety

 Experience working with individuals with a range of special needs

Key Responsibilities

Supervise the instructor team in developing and delivering high-quality, appropriately challenging lesson plans that meet PATH standards

 Recruit and hire PATH-certified instructors as needed

 Train and onboard new instructors

 Ensure all classes are staffed with qualified instructors

 Conduct assessments for new riders and assign appropriate class placement

 Maintain regular communication with riders’ parents and guardians

 Ensure instructors complete and submit rider progress notes

 Organize and oversee the annual rider horse show (program/rider components only)

 Work with the Equine Manager to plan and execute conditioning and training programs for NTRC horses

 Assist with maintaining PATH Premier Accreditation (every five years)

 Work/teach at least one evening per week, staying available to speak with parents and volunteers and to handle emergencies if they arise
